Phone Call to Local Agency has caused concern

Hi, a friend of mine recently call a local agency after sharing a straw to snort drugs. I have not seen this on here for a while (used to frequent the site a lot). The local agancy told him that if there was blood from both people he should get tested for Hep C and HIV. He did not notice blood but this has caused him a lot of stress. Is this an issue he should worry about and get tested? I thought that there has never been anone infected with HIV from snorting and that HEP C is still theoretical. Any feedback would help that I could pass on to him. THanks,

Okay, thanks Teak. It is to bad that this site doesn't have an overview of frequently asked questions and reviews. It would save you folks answering the same questions over and over but I guess everyone feels there situation is different. I read a bit more on it and agree that there may be a slight HCV risk but not and HIV risk as there has never been a documented case. I guess the few questions regarding this subject to the docs shows not to many people worry about it.

It's an HCV risk not HIV.

Thanks, I thanks the expert opinion. The only thing that I can not figure out is some sites say it is a risk and the doctors say there has been a case report or two http://www.medhelp.org/posts/HIV-Prevention/am-I-at-risk/show/788397 which make me a little nervous and not sure who the heck to believe.

Other than this site, is there any reputable pages I could send my friend to to calm his fears? I have found contradictory information all over and don't want to make things worse with him surfing the net. I think there is some information that people give out just to get people tested and it causes fear as you can see all over this site.

Thanks, that is what I thought but even this site had some contradiction from the docs saying now risk in 2007 to very small risk lately so I wasnt sure if something had changed and that is why the agency also said this to my friend.
