Possible HIV exposure on the job

Okay I've been reading everyone's post for weeks now and have gone from a slight worried to a 10 anxiety because of conflicting statistics, on when someone should get tested and how accurate these results are.  I am a dental assistant, I'm very careful and ALWAYS wear latex gloves during procedures and during cleanup. We saw an HIV/AIDs patien back in August, during cleanup I felt a dental instrument called an explorer touch my glove, it was enough of  touch to be concerned there was a *****, i immediately took my gloves off and looked for a puncture wound, there was nothing, and I was not bleeding out from anywhere, also on that hand there was a scabbed over cut, my question is was if there was a puncture wound was it too small to see with my eye? and would me brushing my finger over the scabbed over cut cause transmission of the virus into my blood stream. I recieved a blood test for HIV 1 and 2, 17 days after with negative results i will repeat in 2 weeks which will be the 8 week mark can I rely on the 8 week result ? -concerned
