Thanks snippets69.
I hope someone knows and he / she could tell me. Anxiety..
Can't be of much help, but here's a clinical study that used a Cobas Mira. It's not an HIV study, but it was in 2001.

My best guess is that the machine CAN do 2nd and 3rd generation ELISA tests, but it's only a guess. You'll have to ask the Dr's or possibly someone else knows here for sure.
What i mean is, can an old diagnostic instrument perform a test using more modern eliza assays?
thanks again
Hello Teak, thanks for the reply.
I know that a 7 week test is not conclusive, this is why I took another one today close to 3 months. When i was at the labratory (private) i noticed the "diagnostic machine" that possibly my test was performed.
I am anxious waiting the results and i try to find some optimism this why i ask about "generation question". Of course the result is all that it counts, and the result is the one of the three months, but it would be good for my anxiety if i knew that this "cobas mira" performs the so called in this fourm "modern test".
I know that my question is very specific but do you know anything about? Could a diagnostic machine of 90's perform a more up to date elisa test or it performs only the tests of its time.
thanks
A 7 week test is not conclusive if that is what you wanted to know. A test taken at 3 months is conclusive.
