To health pros

Last week (exactly 6 days ago) I had an unprotected sexual encounter with a member of the opposite sex. This past weekend (4 days after the encounter) I developed a low grade fever, have experienced some night sweating and it has all coincided with a canker sore on my tongue (which I do get from time to time). Likewise I am developing a sore throat and I cant tell, but I feel like my left lymph node on my neck maybe very slightly swollen. Is this something I need to worry about? Or am I just getting a cold? I plan to get tested as I do for my annual physical, but are my symptoms consistent with early onset HIV? My research indicates yes, but I am not sure if it is just a coincidence as they happening only a few days post the possible exposure rather than weeks. thanks.

HIV has no specific symptoms. You can obtain your conclusive test result 3 months post exposure.
