Quick Question

In the recent months I have had unprotected vaginal intercourse with two women who I do not know that well but assume that they have had many, many partners.  The first was maybe 2-3 months ago, and the other was 9 days ago (this one says she got tested "like 2 months ago" and was HIV negative).

Starting last Thursday (almost 6 full days from the most recent encounter, and now 4ish days ago) I started to quickly take on flu-like symptoms.  Well, I think they are mostly flu-type symptoms, but let me know what you think.  I also got a flu shot a few months ago.

-Fever up to ~101.60 degrees (slowly decreased down to 99.5 now)
-MASSIVE leg muscle soreness, even when sitting or lying down (mainly the calves and hamstrings..pain virtually gone now) and some arm muscle pain for a day or so
-Chills when my fever started to rise (when I waited too long to take more Advil)
-Night sweats (like 2-3 times)
-Sore throat (still prevalent)
-Semi-frequent cough

Would this situation raise a concern for ARS or not really?  The same night of my last encounter, I also shared drinking cups with a few people as well (drinking games).

THANKS!!!!

Thanks again, unique.  I do understand the whole "test for conclusive results", etc etc.  I promise ya  :-P  My "curiousness" was more in the whole "timing" of the ordeal in reference to the two encounters.

Again dude, HIV is diagnosed through a blood test, not through signs and symptoms.

Hence, you still need to go for a conclusive test at 3rd month after exposure.

Cheers!

Haha, thanks unique.  It has been quite stressful, but not as stressed as I was once in the past about this kinda stuff awhile back.  I've been trying to repress my worries about it.  :P  I've just got SO much to lose!  But if there's nothing here that would make you think "ARS" or "HIV"......then nothing to worry about..?!?

Hi there,

Flu could be air-bond....meaning one get get flu thru the air.....

Your symptoms are not ARS specific.  Your symptoms sound to me more like a common virus infection plus lots lots lots of stress......

Thanks for your response.  The comment about sharing cups was to say that maybe I just picked up the flu or something from that.  I also understand that having unprotected sex with someone of an unknown status is immediately deemed a risk.  My questions, more specifically are:

1) Do they sound more like a simple flu-type virus than anything else
2) Since the symptoms appeared 2-3 months after the first encounter, and only about 6 days after the second encounter, does that put them outside the usual range for ARS to begin (2-4 week is what I've read on here the most).

And as an update.  The intense muscle soreness is gone, I had a night sweat last night but my mother (a nurse) said that that often happens right before your fever breaks.  I woke up this morning with no fever and it just came back slightly this evening (99.5 degrees).  My sore throat is also partially better.  This all just over 4 days after the symptoms began.

Any responses, please.?!?

Thanks!!!!!!

Hi there,

First of all, sharing cup does not put one at risk of HIV.

If you had unprotected vaginal sex with someone of unknown status, you are at risk if she has STI and HIV.

You can go for a HIV ELISA or Rapid test earliest 1 month after an exposure and retest at the 3rd month for a conclusive result.

HIV is diagnosed through a blood test, not through signs and symptoms. Do not scare yourself with the signs and symptoms.

its flu season so symptoms dont mean anything, if you had unprotected sex you need to test at 3 month for a conclusive result.

I also just now noticed that my tongue is slightly patchy....didn't notice if it was before since I didn't really look.

Also, the first encounter (2-3 months ago) was only a few mins long as far as the vaginal intercourse goes.

THX!!
