Scared as hell!! Help!!

Hi,

Thank you for the great work your organization has been doing. I've been reading posts and your answers for years, but this is my first time posting.

I had three encounters with prostitutes in the month of April 2015. 1) on April 8, 2015; 2) April 9, 2015 - I believe but I don't remember; and 3) on April 14, 2015 - I believe. All sexual acts were protected but were vigorous.

On 1 occasion, the condom slipped and was covering just the head of my penis and not the base. I however still continued having sex. I then went home and had sex with my wife.

2 weeks later, I started having all the symptoms of ARS. I started having constant low grade fever that has been going on for 2 weeks (99.9f to 100.4f). I usually run a 97.8f consistently.

I also have had diarhea and upset stomach for 2 weeks. And have not been able to keep anything down.

I also have had night sweats for a couple of nights - albeit it's only been my head sweating.

I threw up for a couple of days and have been feeling really week.

I don't have a sore throat or any nasal or respiratory symptoms. I don't believe my lymph nodes are swollen, but if they were, I would never know. And I don't have a rash on my body.

More important, my wife has been vomiting and has diarhea for the same amount of time. She does not have a fever. Also, my 18 month old daughter has had diarhea and vomiting too for a week. But she is better now.

Doctor says my wife and daughter have Gastroenteritis. Doctor did not diagnose me as I did not go with them to be diagnosed.

I went, instead, to take an Std test and an RNA test on April 28, 2015.

Questions:
1) was my behavior high risk?
2) do my symptoms suggest ARS or indicative of ARS?
3) does ARS have low grade fever for 2 weeks?
4) is constant diarhea and low grade fever ARS?
5) was RNA test worth doing?
6) can you get HIV from protected vigorous sex?
7) do you think I infect my wife with HIV since I had sex with her unprotected after having sex with the prostitutes?
7) why do you think I cannot break low grade fever and get back to normal? Is this a symptom of ARS?
8) how do I donate to your organization as I want to donate on a monthly basis as I realize your services are crucial to people like me.

Thank you.

All the sex you had was protected, therefore HIV is not a factor. It is possible you have some other infection, or std. Get tested and consult your doctor

You do not have HIV from the exposure described. ARS symptoms are therefore not a cause. You mentioned your wife had gastroenteritis which you may have. I suggest you consult a doctor but it is not HIV

Hello,

Freaking out this morning about my symptoms. So are you saying that my symptoms are similar to ARS symptoms? Or do you think it's most likely a result of the stomach flu that my wife and daughter had? Can it be ARS without a sore throat?

More importantly, since I had high risk encounters, is it more likely that I got infected with HIV or is it likely that I didn't get infected?

Thank you for the response. I definitely will not engage in this behavior again and definitely will not cheat again. The whole experience has taught me a lot.

Sincerely,
Freaking out!!!

1) Sex with an unknown individual is always high risk, despite using a condom. You can still contract other STDs from simple skin to skin contact.
2) Low grade fever, diarrhea would fit, but a lot of things can cause fever and night sweats, any type of infection, fungus, parasite etc.
6) If it was protected and used correctly, then no.
7) It is possible, somewhat unlikely from vaginal sex
7a) Your body is fighting something, it will return to normal when your infection subsides.
8) you can donate on any HIV website to research or support.

The bottom line is, that you had a bunch of high risk activities, you should evaluate your behaviors for both your sake and your wifes. Get your HIV tests done after 1 month using a 4th generation test. If it is negative, try to move on, You can follow up at 3 months, but it would be unlikely that it would turn positive. Best of luck.
