Test result

I took a 2nd generation finger prick HIV test at 8 weeks. The result is negative. Anybody know how accurate it is at 8 weeks? Is the result going to change at 12 weeks? Can I relax now?

There really isn't a difference between the two.  Test whenever your definition of 3 months isl

Your result is statistically unlikely to change.  But test again at 3 months for a conclusive result.

The counselor who did the test for me told me it was a 2nd generation test. He poked my finger and got a drop of blood. Are you sure it's a 3rd generation test? So the test result won't change?

The only available 2nd gen test available is the ora quick. From what i understand blood test are 3rd gen or 4th gen. If the test was done 6-8 weeks post exposure it is conclusive. You may want to do a test at 3 months but it will be mainly for peace of mind.
