Three Weeks and Symptoms

Hello all.

I had a sexual encounter with another man a little over three weeks ago and am very stressed out that I may have contracted hiv.

While I did ask him of his status, and he told me he was "clean," he was essentially a stranger.

I believe that the activities I participated in are generally considered "low-risk": I fellated him and there was some precum but no ejaculation, and topped and bottomed with a condom. He ejaculated on my stomach while I was fingering him and I used the same finger to finger myself. Also I have some concern that I somehow got semen on the finger I used to finger myself.

I have had a very sore throat since Wednesday and I have swollen lymph nodes in the neck and groin (confirmed by a Nurse Practitioner), as well as an elevated temperature.  I was tested yesterday for Strep Throat and Mono and both came back negative.

I also went to an STD clinic (exactly three weeks since possible exposure) yesterday and got tested for HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, among other things. The result of the rapid HIV test came back negative and I am waiting on everything else (10 days until results)

Again, I am very stressed out about this and it is affecting my sleep and general well-being.

I have another HIV test scheduled for next Friday.  I know that four weeks is far from conclusive, but if that comes back negative is it at least a good sign?  I know that you can't diagnose HIV by symptoms alone, but I find these symptoms to be very disconcerting.

Should I be as concerned as I am?  Should I get a PCR test?  If he himself was seroconverting (again, I didn't really know him), does my typically low-risk encounter become a high-risk one?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.  I really appreciate it.

Your symptoms are not an HIV concern.

Thank you for your responses.

I should mention that I did receive a diagnosis of acute pharyngitis from the nurse practitioner.  My throat and mouth are incredibly sore and dry without any nasal congestion.

At no time were you ever at risk of contracting HIV in any of the situations you've provided.

I am concerned because I know that low-risk is not no-risk, and I don't know if the person I had sex with was honest or really knew their current status.  Also, that my symptoms came a little after two weeks of exposure certainly doesn't put my mind at ease.

This was the first time I had sex with a relative stranger and know that it will be my last due to the incredible stress this experience has put me through.

Hello!
Ok, so like if you felt a situation was low-risk why put yourself in a risky position at all?
Giving oral isn't a risk....fingering of any kind isn't a risk......
Now, at 4-6 a hiv test can give you some clarity... at 6-8 a test can still do the same!
3months is conclusive yes, but at 6-8 i would test just so you can sleep better know that at 3 months you'll be fine!
hope you feel better!
