ARS Symptoms..PLEASE help me.

I am a male who encountered a sexual adventure with another ,male whose HIV status is unknown. We had oral sex twice and he inserted the tip of his penis for few seconds inside my rectum and withdrew immediately. However, 3 weeks later, I started experiencing HIV like symptoms, such as: fever, muscle soreness in the arms, cold legs, weakness, fatigue, insomnia and night sweats including disturbing dreams, lack of appetite, loose stool and upset stomach and lately experiencing a sinus infection with postnasal drip, sore throat, stuffy nose, white tongue and allergies. How long should I continue waiting before getting tested? It's been 7 weeks and I am really nervous and experiencing panic attacks and lots of anxiety.

Howard,

I want to thank you for your support as I had no guidance or anyone to express my concerns. For all the worried-wells, please note that symptoms mean nothing and the ONLY way to know your true status is by getting tested. We should ALWAYS practice safe sex by using condoms and taking precautions. This group forum that talks about awareness and prevention in general for STD's helped me cope with all my anxiety, stress and depression. GOD bless you and everyone else that participates in this forum.

Congratulations on the negative test result, but for all the reasons above it's no surprise. There was no way you caught HIV and most of your symptoms were not typical for HIV seroconversion.

Hey Howard,

I just received my 92 days NEGATIVE result from the STD Specialist. I feel so happy and blessed. After weeks of no sleep and depression, I am NEGATIVE. I had almost all the flu-like symptoms 3 weeks after an oral exposure, fever, muscle ache, diarrhea, chills, cold legs, tingling/burning sensations on my foot and leg (felt like it was sero-conversion), lack of appetite, night sweats, postnasal drip, sore throat, hoarse voice, weakness and fatigue. GOD is good and I am BLESSED!!!!!!! AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!

"EIA" doesn't help; there are several of them.  OTOH, it really doesn't matter much. All EIAs are nearly 100% conclusive at 6 weeks or more. You can expect any further testing to remain negative.

That should end this thread. I won't have any more comments or advice.

How did your test turn out?

Howard,

My doctor said the test that was conducted was the Enzyme immunoassay (EIA). Does that help?

There are at least 10 tests like that. Find out the exact type or name of the test. You can learn that from the doctor or lab that tesed you.

Hi Howard,

I had a blood test that looks for antibodies.

Teak hasn't been participating in the forum lately.

Depending on what test you had at 78 days, it may be conclusive. Ask your doctors if you need another test at 90 days.  Maybe not.

Hey Teak,

I wanted to keep you posted of my results. I tested negative at 78 days post exposure and having symptoms. I have to return back at 90 days for a confirmatory and conclusive result. I will keep you posted.

3 months post exposure is when you can obtain your conclusive test result.
