Unprotected oral sex with pharyngitis/throat sores

I performed oral sex with a guy yesterday. When I gave oral sex, I was sure there was pre-sperm in my mouth while I got pharyngitis and sores in throat at that time. I am wondering if pharyngitis or throat sores can increase HIV risk for me? Am I risk? Thanks for advice.

Oral sex is never a risk for HIV even if you had sore throat/pharyngitis. Enzymes in saliva break inactivate the virus as does air and that never changes so you had no risk from your exposure. The only way adults get HIV is from unprotected vaginal or anal sex or sharing of IV drug needles. So, good news, no worries!

If you gave oral sex, you may  have questions regarding std's in general (not HIV as you had no risk for that) and you can ask those in the MedHelp STD forum found under communities Letter S.
