Testing

So I've mustered up the courage to get myself tested after 7 plus years since my unprotected 5 second bloody brief vaginal exposure with a partner who's status was unknown. Im actually taking up a new career where you undergo mandatory HIV testing. My blood was collected Thursday of last week. I was told no news is good news and preliminary results are available to the employer 24-72 from the lab. Today is Tuesday haven't heard anything yet. Should I begin to feel good about my situation?

I am not aware of the procedures for pre-employment medical there but it looks that all is well because you would have been informed, if the tests were reported otherwise. Chances of HIV transmission from a single isolated incident of unprotected sex with someone of unknown health status is not very significant, and secondly seven years is pretty reasonable time for the disease to shown signs of progression.

Thank you for your input. I drove myself crazy for years and years thinking I was infected from this incident and thinking I infected my ex, instead of just going to get tested and getting it over with. I am extremely relieved now that I can move on and put this whole ordeal behind me.
