Please forgive me i am new here and worried,I wll make my sotry very short . My ex Gf called me and told me she was HIV positive,I had not been with her for about 18 months. She said her current BF is infected her,and gave it to her  .she had taken a 3 week test aftet finding out his status and came back negative,she was told to by her doctor to meet the 8-12 weeks window. The second test came back positive exactly after-12-14 weeks. What are my hances I was exposed? I am worried and scared ,I want to get married and have kids. My dorctor I went to see him today he said my chances are very low,he said don't worry much over it,but for peace of mind if i want get tested but 18 months after i never had any intercourse with  her, is very long for her to be negative till  December. That gave me some calm but I am worried ,I come to you because you are helping others. God Bless your work . please help me sleep. I have not eaten ,help me with me.

I would like to say thanks to everyone , I spoke to my doctor today,he showed me the test result from the lab,it says nonreactive  or Negative  for HIV including syphilis and 5 other set of test taken. He says I am a healthy man,no infections were detected.
Thanks for everything this forum helped educate me about AIDS and HIV,my message to everyone is get tested if you have not and never assume your partner is a hundred percent faithful,practice safe sex if even your going to get married until you both are tested ,don't dare risk it.

You don't have HIV. Had you had HIV he would have told you.

2 weeks ago I took my very first HV test in reference to the above issue.  admit,i went through hell with stress and anxiety,  am stll in shock.
My doctor told me he would put my test for 5 days and it was about going on 3 weeks I did not hear from him. I called him to ask him about my result,he said the Test came back Ok. I asked him what do you mean? he replied if I said your test is ok then its ok but still come and see me when you have time.
can anyone tell me what he means?

Hey Teak,
I  plan to go take a test, just have not been finding much courage.I have never been so fearful in my life   I read an statement by one of the Doctors here said:Anxiety is a silent killer,that is true.
I  want to ask if she was infected while we were together would she have shown negative since over 18 months? as  stated frst test negative.
You have given me great advice,please forgive me for asking the similar question twice,I am just stress over this and  I don't think I should be since it is a current issue between her and her BF.
Teak, I just want to get over this fear and be happy again.

Thank you so much for this prompt reply. Thank you again this gives me a peace of  mind I can sleep tonight. No,I did not have any contact with her at all!!!!OH no! thank God. I say this with full confidence No,not once since after we broke up,not even a simple Hug.  I just want to move on with my life without this terrible fear and you have helped me greatly and I also want to thank all the Doctors here everyday answering questions helping people who are in need.

If you didn't have sex with her after she has been going with the current bf then you don't have anything to worry about. If you have been having unprotected sex with her when she was having sex with her current then you are at risk.
