needle stick

Im a med student and recently when in the OT my colleague accidently jabbed me with the needle he was using for suturing the patient up. i was gloved and the patient was negative for HIV and hbsAg. although the needle was only used in closing up the skin and fascia, do i need to get tested?

This is a tough one, I know. I think you have already decided what you need to do, though. You'll test, I think.

So, given that, test at 3 months, get your negative, and then move on.

i was doing missionary work in a 3rd world country at that time and dont rely on their lab reports. or should i? i have heard of inaccurate lab reporting systems in certain countries.

Why would you get tested when you know the patient was negative.
