It is common for people to find/develop all kinds of symptoms of HIV even while negative - it has been throughout the whole epidemic. It just shows how powerful the mind can be in altering the perception of reality.

As of some new unknown disease. Well, I guess you can never rule it out. After all, HIV seemed to pop out of nowhere in the 80's (even though transmission of low levels had been going on at least decades before). Of course a negative HIV test won't say anything about a hypothetical new disease. Still, it is not often that new disease like HIV emerges. It's not worth worrying about since you can't influence it and it's the same risk for everyone. It is far more likely the symptoms you described are from some well-known benign disease.

There is no difference. The UK uses the DUO.

Post-test discussion

The need for a repeat HIV test if still within the window period after a specific exposure should be discussed. Although fourth generation tests shorten the time from exposure to seroconversion a repeat test at three months is still recommended to definitively exclude HIV infection.

Hi, Epstein-Barr virus can cause similar symptoms, can also lead to low white blood count.

There might be new viruses that we don't know of. as I am puzzled with my symptoms. or perhaps your doctor was right, just purely from fear.

do a little visit on Undiagnosed Symptoms in your free time:
