You have an excellent result--just follow up at 3 months for a final test.
I had one exposure which is unprotected. It was risky i know so i did not ask
about that. Other one was to check if that also comes to exposure.
hey first of all you didn't had any exposure. Your other post and replies from experts there is clear. You don't need test at all.
1.NO 2.NO 3.same as 28 days--99.89% 4.NO 5.Anything can happen in medicine--highly unlikely though.
Okay Rainlover,
Just a last question to you?
Since you have worked with all hiv specalist,
1. Is there any difference between a test done at 26 days 16 hours and 28 days?
2. Do you think one's result change in next 32 Hours?
3. What is the conclusiveness of test at 26 days 16 hours?
4. Have you seen a negative 26 days 16 hours result change at 28 days or 3 months?
5. has that ever happened or will happen?
Freedom health still state that 3 months is required for a conclusive test, its also the CDC guides. Im sure you want peace of mind so take your test as good news then follow at 3 months.
I suggest you remain happy with that result & just test again at 3 months for the sake of guidelines.I highly doubt the result will change.
There are no tests marketed or sold to give a conclusive negative test result earlier than 3 months post exposure.
So hwy there is difference in doctor's opinion.
I have seen Dr HHH telling one guy who had anal sex with
known HIV positive not to re test after a negative duo
test at 28 days?
Is he wrong?
sorry for escalating your tension with my discussion in your thread. But what you need to know is. Though DUO tests are expensive and can detect only HIV 1 earlier than antibody tests, A negative test at 24 days is very very encouraging. you can relax for a while but get tested after 3 months with just a antibody test.
there are no tests marketed or sold to give conclusive results earlier than 3 months post exposure.
So its still less conclusive at 24 days, 16 hrs?
I woll not be able to accurately test at 28 days since i am going some
out of town.
Put it this way--if I had a risk & had a negative test at 4 weeks with the DUO I wouldn't test again but thats my opinion.I would only test at 3 moths if it was a very high risk exposure.

RainLover what about 24 days 16 hours?
Anybody, Nursegirl, Rainlover???
I referred to Freedom health website many a times. even there, percentages are not mentioned. Anyways, with due respect to you, i dont want to continue this anymore. But, i too agree DUO tests are very good tests even at 4 week period. bye
Read what Freedom Health says about the DUO at 4 weeks & who would know more about the DUO then them.Read the expert doctors forum here on medhelp aswell.
I wonder whether there is any scientific evidence for that 99.89% ??? apart from that i totally agree with you on DUO tests
did I say it was conclusive--no I didn't but 99.89% is good enough for people like me who work with the best HIV specialists.FYI HIV2 is as rare as hens teeth.
DUO tests are indeed useful for early detection of HIV 1 below 3 month mark. but they are not conclusive before 3 month mark.even in INDIA duo tests (eg : VIDAS DUO) are widely used. but HIV 2 is not detected any early by a DUO test. and can you tell me from where those percentages came!!!!
You are all wrong--they call me the DUO man on here at medhelp because I believe it's the best test.FACT--it is 99.89% reliable at 4 weeks for the detection of HIV1 & anyone that says otherwise has got lead in their pants.P 24 antigen peaks at 3 to 4 weeks post-exposure.AUS & The UK have been using it for years.
Duo tests for HIV are newer tests which tests both antigen and antibodies. Antigen part of DUO test is useful in 3-4 weeks period (as P24 antigen is active then) and at later period, antibody part is active. DUO tests are good at 24 as well as at 43 days. Any negative test below 3 month mark is encouraging but are not conclusive. I dont know from where you got those percentages!!!
