hi all

Hi all,
i am a new member in this forum and as all of you, i am one more terified that i maybe contracted hiv..
i ll tell you my story...had protected vaginal intersourse and protected oral intersourse with a transgender prostitute who is working in a bordelo in greece. As far i as i know here in greece every prostitude is working in a red light shop, is being checked every 2 months for STD obligatorily. i said i had vaginal intersourse cause she was indeed transexual, she has changed gender.Nothing went wrong during my intersource with her and i remember i withdrew when i came just in case the condom would break etc.I am doing that very often when i visit sex workers just to stay safe and feel ok with myself.
However, 8 days post exposure, i went down with a flu-like illness which lasted 3-4 days.symptoms 1st day fever 37.5-37.7, a bit myalgia, 2d day 38.0-39.0max., myalgia was stronger, i begun Amoxil antibiotic, 3d day 38.0-38.3 and finally 4th day symptoms started to lessen.
The good news is that exactly the same period there were many colds and flu-like illnesses in the area and that is very encouraging for me..
I would like to ask any doctor in the forum or anyone who is really aware of the danger i put my self to give me his opinion about it.My last test was 2004 negative.I am gona be tested on next week, its gona be 2 months post exposure, here in greece 2 months and neg is conclusive.
What are my chances?have you heard any cases where actually wearing a condom and catching hiv?i as this cause here in greece is it widely said that if you use a condom and it doesnt break or slip then you dont have any danger of catching hiv,
best regards
getaway

well, you were right, went for a test in7 weeks time...negative, i know its not conclusive but the odds are that it will be neg
to all worried folks as i was, dont judge from your symptoms!symptoms mean ABSLUTELY nothing!the basic is CONDOM with everyone and in every sexual act and then if you want to go for a test just to ease your mind do it, the odds are with you!enjoy safe sex , is better going for a test when you used a condom and feel pretty sure, than going to nowhere...
stay safe thanks for your posts.

hi folks,
thanks for your very encouraging replies regarding to my post and believe the back of my mind says: "come on, be rational and think that if condoms wouldnt work, probably everyone in the sex workers industry would be infected but this is not happening" but when you deal with such a big issue you cant be down to earth...you are just loosing your mind...
but nevertheless, i will do the test just to ease my mind,
hope all you are ok, thanks again for your posts,

They call it protected sex for a reason ya know? No condom breakage = no risk of hiv. Condoms that dont break are 100% effective, HIV can not penetrate latex, thats the reason that all medical personnel everywhere wear latex gloves when dealing with patients, gers cant get through.

No risk, protected means protected, so if the condom didnt broke you had zero risk.

Get your negative result at 2 months and forget about this. symptoms means nothing they were caused by a cold or  the flu in the area.

Hope it helps and continue using condoms always.

Hi welcome to the community. Relax, you had protected sex and your condom remain intact throughout,,, your risk is non existent. Protected meand protected. Move on,, jus dont focus on symptoms, they do not mean much,,, You may go for antibody test anytime and collect your negative result, because you were never exposed to risk,,,
