HIVTesting

Hi....I just want to ask how reliable oraquick in home hiv test? I tested myself twice in December 2015 and March 2016 both came out negative it been years after exposure, I was relieved and happy with it but then its say it may give false negative if  there is no enough antigen, correct me if I'm wrong, oraquick is just a 2nd generation and the more accurate is the 3rd and 4 gen testing. how accurate my result was?

my expossure was like 8 years ago or so, the reason is that I was not feeling well lately and trying to figure it out by dr. internet whick led me to believe its hiv related hence testing myself with oraquick 1 month apart both negative, further googling about it states that it may yield false negative in late stages of the disease having said that mine was like 8 years ago im aftaid to go to the climic coz it might be diffrent from my oraquick result, I want to rely on my oraquick result and move on but im not sure now.

There are many symptoms that can be associated with HIV that are the same symptoms that can also have absolutely nothing to do with HIV. That is why testing determines ones status. I'm not telling you to ignore your health, if you don't feel well see your Dr.
As for your question it has been answered. If you can't control your anxiety perhaps you should post in that forum for help.
Take care.

Im just worried with mixed info I read and the exposure I've had which is years ago.
I think you meant to say late stage false negatives.
And yes that 100% is possible but not in your case. For that to happen someone would be in the hospital very ill.
Medhelp didn't load right on my phone, your original post isn't above my reply but I think you had concerns about unprotected vaginal sex 2 yrs ago. Your fine, with your 2 Oraquick test. Anxiety won't let you trust your results.

I don't know generations concerning oraquick other than what it is.
If directions where followed properly and used 3 months or more following last risk it is 99% reliable meaning conclusive.
Oraquick looks for antibodies.
