hiv symptoms
I dont have any other particular symptoms except frequent numbness in my left hand...is it ars symptoms
CDC, FDA and test manufactures have the window period at 3 months and that is the advice we give until it changes. Don't doubt the above but 3 months is what it is for now.
If 6 weeks time has no significance then its better to mention only 3 months test on website b,coz it just increase the anxiety level of person who got test at 6 weeks and still can't feel confident about the test.
I found this post on medhelp.org website in which it is written that modern third and fourth generation tests can detect well over 99% hiv positive at 6 weeks after exposure....

We have moved from rudimentary tests in the early 1980's to modern, accurate, easy to use third and fourth generation HIV testing methods in 2010. HIV 1 and 2 antibody tests in use in the UK will be either third or fourth generation test. Modern third generation tests will identify well over 99% of newly infected HIV positive people at 6 weeks after exposure even though they are licensed for use after 12 weeks after a possible exposure.

Hi teak....as discussed with you earlier. ..I had unprotected sex with a girl of unknown hiv status on 23rd January. I had no symptoms of acute infection except mild throat pain.....can I go for p24 and antibodies test on 19th day. How reliable it will be....as I am travelling after that...much worried...will it be of any sense or waste of time n money
