how much accurate is rapid testing?

Please tell me rapid test after 8 months from ur last risk is enough to have an 100% accurate result or how accurate are hiv rapid testing people here are talked about ELISA test but no information are available on rapid testing coz what upto my knowledge is rapid test take 15 min. to get the result and ELISA test give result in 5 days atleast i ment to say that long period result means more accurate test rather then test conducted in 15 or 20 minuts.I had a rapid hiv test 8 months after my last unprotected sex which was conducted in private laboratery and comes out -ve.So how much reliable is rapid test after 8 months from last risk.I want to get knowledge on HIV tests as these are very important and deponds up on the condition and mine was - test after 8 months, and suddenly after 4 months i mean total one year after my last risk i am suddenly sick i am having fever and its from past 15 days i am worried about my test as antibodies can aslo developed after 8 months.I have tried different kind of medicin and my condition is still the same as it was in the begening.My fever is in b/w 99 F - 100 F and it started after infection in my throat(Rashness) along with cough.i am worried whether this fever is symptoms of hiv because this condition neveer happened with me i am bit confused what are my hiv status should i go for another test or this fever is because of another reason.

Depending on the rapid test it can take from 3 minutes to 20 minutes. A conclusive rapid test is 3 months post exposure and you are way beyond the window period at 8 months. Rapid tests are ELISA tests. A standard ELISA test takes from hours to two weeks to receive your results depending on the lab. Both tests are very reliable. It's your choice.
