Could this be ordinary flu or HIV infection?

I was involved in a protected sexual intercourse with my then girlfriend on the 28th of December 2010,however, the condom slipped down to the extent of only covering the head of my penis. I did not spend more than a minute having sex with her, i quickly ejaculated and pulled off,but as i was pulling off i noticed the condom had slipped down covering only the head. On new's eve i went on to drink a lot of alcohol (extreme drinking of strong spirits), i continued on Saturday, then on Sunday the 2nd of january 2011 i started feeling a sore throat coming and throughout the first week of 2011 it developed into full blown flu. I was discharging yellowish mucus. Before she visited she had told me she had sinus flu. However, she called me a few days ago saying that she tested positive for HIV. What i would like to know is was i exposed to the HIV virus. Is there great risk if the condom slips down but still covering the head? Also could my flu be explained by the excessive drinking or was it a symptom of HIV manifestation. The exposure was on 28 December and I started feeling a sore throat on 2 January of 2011. Can you help please i am worried. Currently i have swollen lymph nodes under my right chin and it feels like there is something on my throat,though there is no more pain, is it possible to catch sinus from kissing. I did not take any medication, for this flu/sinus.Is sinus flu a deadly condition? Thanks for your help

kissing is not a risk.

sorry...cant tell you how you got sick...more than likely caught whatever flu-bug she had.

Thanks LIZZIE,do you know by any chance what could have caused the flu, could it be drinking excessively then? The thing thats killing is that one of the symptoms of acute HIV is "flu-like symptoms" thats why i got worried. What about the sinus can you catch it by kissing an infected person?

as long as the head of your penis was covered...you were protected.  hiv does not just seep into the skin of the shaft.
