testing back in 2000

I had an affair back in 1996 and 1997 or 1998 and one in 2000. My wife was tested for hiv in may or june 2000 and cam back negative. my question is would that have been enough time for a test to show hiv? not sure which test was taken. There may have been only a month after the last one but would the other two show in that amount of time.
thanks

a conclusive test result is obtained 3 months after the last exposure.

We did I was inquiring while we were waiting for the results. Which was negative. Again I thank you for helping ease people's mind.

My GOD, you have been worried about this since 2000?  Like Lizzie said...you don't base your status on someone else's test results...YOU go get tested, which you've had 12 years to do.  I don't understand why YOU were the cheater, yet your WIFE was the one who tested?  Why didn't you test as well?  You should have both tested!!

If there was only one month between the last exposure and testing, then her result would not have been conclusive.  The guidelines in 2000 for the window period were 6 months, changed to 3 months in 2004.

There is just simply no reason for you to have waited all of these years to take a test, and if you are worried about your wife, then all she has to do is take another test as well, it would obviously be conclusive...12 years is certainly enough time to become positive.
