Reliability of HIV negative result at 7 weeks

Good day,

My brother has recently had a rapid hiv test (finger prick) at a local clinic, which turned out to be negative. This was 7 weeks after his last sexual encounter. I am not sure what the name of this test was. Is this too soon to be tested? What are the chances that his result will change with the next month?

Hi,
If your brother was exposured then he could test in a decent clinic. A 4th generation test is reliable 1 month after the exposure and a simple test 3 months post exposure.
Take care
