Does that guidelines apply to any approved HIV antibody test, irrespective of generation?

In an adult, a positive HIV antibody test result means that the person is infected, a person with a negative or inconclusive result may be in the “window for 4 to 6 weeks but occasionally up to 3 months after HIV exposure. Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results
waiting for your reply since 3 hrs...please reply
"vast majority of new infections will be discovered within a matter of weeks, due to the advance in testing."
Is your above statement valid to 2nd generation rapid test. i just know of kit tested on me. It is TriDot
Also CDC just says 97% people are negative at 3 months but didn't mention who are those 3 %
Put it this way, even people with severely compromised immune systems, like you listed, would still almost always test + within the 3 month window period. Recomending they test to 6 months is precautionary.
3 months is the official guideline, you have no need to test beyond that. The vast majority of new infections will be discovered within a matter of weeks, due to the advance in testing.
