Drugs are sometimes suggested, such as Amiodarone, which can regulate the heart beat, but it is pretty invasive, and you can, in all probability, count on some side effects, some of which can be severe. I'm not a health professional, but did experience A-Fib, tried Amiodarone, and it did temporarily regulate things, but eventually had an ablation, which worked. In my opinion, an ablation is a less invasive and more effective treatment. I'd procede with confidence with the procedure.
As far as I understand you have ablation(with different methods and ways to identify the ablation area) and isolation of the pulmonary vein.
