I had 3 stents placed in my iliac veins. The stents are from my groin to my mid stomach. I’m having period pain that hurts and shoots in my groin. I can even feel the stent when touching my groin area. Today it’s worse. It’s been almost 4 months. I have times like today that I can barely walk and times where it shoots a pain so hard it almost drops me. I’ve also been popping up with these round looking hives which my doctor thinks it’s possibly spider bites or a reaction to the metal of the stents. It started 3 days after they were placed.also after the stents were placed my body tried to reject them and more blood clots formed in side the stents. After taking Xarelto which I’m on 20mgs for life the blood clots inside stent went away. But the pain and the itchy welts are driving me insane. What is going on with me all around???I

It would be odd to have a dermal (skin) reaction due to the stents. It would be even more odd to have a reaction outside of the acute or immediate time period after placement.

The pain however might be significant and worthy of a checkup from the IR docs that implanted them.
Especially if the pain is impairing your ability to walk, you need to be seen.

If you search the web, you will see a large number of people who have been diagnosed with femoral artery damage from a catheter. It can have the sheath damaged from just too much prolonged pressure. All the cases I have read have taken anywhere from 6 months to a year to heal, and a few don't seem to have healed at all. Symptoms do seem to vary, from a wobbly knee, severe pain in thigh, groin or lower leg area, and even tingling in the leg.

If the stent was placed in the heart arteries it would be unusual that it would cause groin pain this far out.  However, if your groin that was entered is still hurting you, you should let your cardiologist or primary doctor know.  He may want to see you and evaluate the cause of the pain.

It's normal to have bruising, I've had 10 stents and many procedures. My bruising was always bad, but within 2 weeks it has felt and looked perfectly fine. Do you feel any lumps under the skin if you press gently, and does this make it hurt more?

If the femoral artery area where the catheter was inserted is still painful, it could be that the femoral nerve was damaged. This nerve runs very close to the artery and if damaged can take months to heal, or it may never return to normal. Perhaps you could mention this possibility to your Doctor and get some advice.
