Amen, Ed. I have "quit" 4 times in my life. I am back to the pack again. And all I said was "I can smoke just one".......................look at me now. NO You canNOT have just one! All the patches, gum and like won't help you either if you have no convictions. I know I can quit, I just don't want to bad enough. It sounds awful and when I hear myself say that it really makes no sense, but it's true. I don't want to quit enough to do it. I am strong and bull headed enough to quit when I can say I'm done. Isn't that terrible?
Quit, my friend, before you get further down that road we call life! Ally
Well said, Ed.
Aram, just sit on your hands and quit. I did exactly what Ed did. It isn't easy, but if you keep smoking, you have a difficult future, in my opinion. If you have anxiety now, just wait if you keep up the habit. It won't go well for you.
I think you should stop adding to your anxiety, eat healthily and stop smoking altogether. I think after about three weeks you will feel much much better. If you want my opinion on giving up smoking, forget the cutting down. It really does make it harder. Just quit. I'm 50 now and tried lots of times in my life to give up by cutting down. One cigarette a day means you are still a smoker. After my first heart attack I just quit and haven't looked back. I found it hard for three weeks, then it seemed to get much easier. Stay away from other smokers for a few weeks, and keep very busy. If you hear that annoying voice "light one up, go on, just one won't hurt", just tell it you've given up. After about three weeks you find you will be in control again.
Good luck and I wish you all the best.
The improvement was noticed when i cut down to 5 cigs. a day and I am trying my best to go down all the way to zero! as for sampling they didn't sample anything they gave me the antibiotics and anti inflammatory drug. My oxygen levels are 98,shall I stop worrying that this have nothing to do with my heart or should I press for further tests? I do suffer from anxiety as well so I am really confused and worried!
Bronchitis can exist without a cough, and it can give the symptoms you describe. Smoking also aggravates Bronchitis. Your airways are being damaged by smoking and this will only make matters worse for you. If you don't stop smoking there is a very high risk it could get worse and even become chronic.
You say they have given you antibiotics? did they take some kind of sample to determine if it's bacterial or viral? Antibiotics are not usually given for a viral version. I know it may sound like I'm on a nagging trip here about smoking, but I can't emphasise strongly enough how important it is to look after your airways.
