Some of the heart medication can produce constipation. The blood thinners also can produce stomach bleeding and irritation and the statins are known to produce gases.
Jesus.
I have had heart failure symptoms (but controlled) going on 8 years. Insurance underwriters consider an EF below 30% to be heart failure and my EF has been in heart failure mode, but with medications, diet, exercise, etc. my EF is 59% and heart size has returned to normal as well.
Many individuals (estimated to be 26%) do not know they are in heart failure mode because there are no symptoms for this group. I didn't know I had a heart condition until congested heart failure...lung edema. EF below 30%...ejection fraction is the percentage of blood pumped with each heartbeat...normal is 50 to 70%.
For the past years I have a totally blocked LAD artery, ICX is 72% occluded and my condition can be classified as stage two but my heart failure is in remission, but slight limitation of physical activity. Comfortable at rest, but ordinary physical activity results in shortness of breath...I take a nitrate 3 times a week prior to working out at the Health Center and no symptoms with the exercise routine. Also an ACE inhibitor for high blood pressure, and a beta blocker for control of heart rate and high blood pressure.
As I stated I had no symptoms of a heart issue when admitted to the hospital because I felt well but shortness of breath with lung edema was the prevailing symptom going into emergency. Blood pressure was normal but a heart rate of 115 bpm according to the record. I was shocked to hear I had had a heart attack!!! How well someone feels is not always very helpful. But it is a very good sign that other parts of the system are compensating for a deficient pumping heart.
Thanks for sharing, and if you have any further questions or comments or are welcome to respond. Take care, and I wish you well going forward.
