ECG Variations

Last Sunday night at 9.30 pm, i had pain in my left shoulder's vien. The Dr. has done ECG which shows some negative lines. He advised me be in his obeservation for a night. I do, on next morning at 8.30 am, they again do ECG which is fine.

I would like to know, that this variations are to be taken as seriously or not? whether I have to undergo for furhter tests viz. TMT, Eco-cardi., Li Profile etc.? pls advice..

I do get confused over the leads being in error, is this because the machines are old?
ECG machine leads word in pairs as you know, and every time I have an ECG they press a button which checks the signals before they take a trace. On several occasions they have removed a lead and moved it over slightly. Does it depend on the machine?

Negative EKG segment tracings relates to the location of the probe (electrodes) on the chest and whether or not the electrical impulse are going against the signals produced by the heart. The probes detect the electrical impulses generated by your heart, and transmit them to the ECG machine. The ECG machine produces a graph (the ECG tracing) of those cardiac electrical impulses.

Sometimes the negatives indicate a wrong placement of the probe, but either negative or postive waves provide useful information.
