Enlarged heart in 8 yr old boy

Hello and thank you anyone reading. I have a 8 yr old boy usually very active in football or anything that involves outdoors he is very in shape 52 inches tall and very slender. 72 pounds He was running the other day from one house to the next and his heart started hurting he doubled over on the street saying his heart hurt. As a former emt I checked his pulse and skin he was warm and dry and pulse slightly elevated I asked him quickly after if he felt better he said yes me thinking just the pounding of his chest was what he thought was causing him "pain" well I called the pedi dr she had no openings for 2 days so i kept him home to observe him and I opted out of local er since there was no other "episodes" today we went to dr she ordered an EKG and a chest x ray and abdominal x ray since chief complaints are chest abdominal and fatigue she told me it would be a day before we had any results to keep him rested. She called me 3 hours later to let me know EKG was normal for beats and rhythum but his X-ray shows an enlarged heart. Dr told me she was referring to a cardiologist to await the call but would not emphasize her findings. As a mother I am worried who what when where why? I can't find any statistics  on if this is common or not or well really nothing a mom can find solitude in. Any advice or if anyone has been there would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!!

His blood pressure was normal and he hasn't had any blood tests or been sick thankfully. And not that I know of on the anemia. Dr office called me back to tell me to be patient and wait for their call that they will call me Friday today but no word yet. Getting upset its taken this long but on other hand if it was emergency he would already have been seen I hope.

Don't start looking at statistics, you don't know which bracket you will fall into anyway, and it just leads to uneducated guesses. If Doctors went by statistics and not diagnosis, we would never be cured.
This is one of those things where you will have to be patient, but the good sign is that there are no rhythm issues and that will rule out many problems. Do you know what his blood pressure is like?  Has he had any infections lately? Has he had any blood tests for such things as thyroid function? Is he definitely not anemic?
