Proprananol is a beta blocker that should keep the sinus impulses low to help prevent ectopic beats.

Thank you for your comment. My doctor just said that when he put the catheter in the right side of heart it triggered off ectopic beats. He said that my hypersensitive heart muscle made them worse.
What is this?
He has put me on Proprananol to control the ectopic beats.
Usually heartbeat starts with the sinus node in the right atrium. Ectopic beats is a stray signal that come from any region of the heart that ordinarily should not produce heart beat signals.
It is commonly seen clinically and mostly asymptomatic. However, there are occasions where the presence of ectopic beats signifies a susceptibility towards more serious irregular heartbeats if there is heart disease present....Does you doctor believe there is heart muscle sensitivities that may be the underlying cause ectopic beats, or does your doctor believe based on tests, etc. the ectopic beats are medically insignificant?
In normal hearts, their occurrence is usually associated with no clinical significance, and ablation (extripate) in cases where focal ventricular ectopics are found to trigger ventricular fibrillation.
Hope this provides a perspective that will enable you to effectively consult with your doctor and treatment options if warranted. If you are without symptoms and no other heart issues, there may not be any treatment necessary. Take care,
Ken
arrhythmias, especially when heart disease is present. In some patients, VEBs are triggered by the same mechanism that gives rise to ventricular tachycardia which can be cured with catheter ablation. In addition, there are recent reports on the use of catheter
Ventricular ectopic beats (VEBs) are commonly seen in daily clinical practice. They are largely asymptomatic but can cause upsetting symptoms in some patients. . Appropriate clinical evaluation and investigations are important in assessing patients with VEBs so that effective treatment can be targeted when necessary. This article discusses the current knowledge and practice in this commonly encountered clinical cardiological problem.
Thanks for your reply.
They found that I had a hypersensitive heart muscle during a recent Cardiac Cath.
The catheter triggered Ectopic beats.
Inflammation of the heart muscle may also be instigated by toxins, drugs, and hypersensitive immune reactions. It can be heart muscle damage...need further information!
Ectopic (irregular) heart beats can be due to heart muscle abnormalities and/or heart cell damage!? Need more information.
Thanks for the question, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond. Take care,
Ken
