Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and Mitral Valve Prolapse

Hi Folks,

I have Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and Mitral Valve Prolapse.  I have had left sided chest (below breast) discomfort for the longest time.  Triggers:  Large meals, stress, bursts of activity.  Though exercise that is ramped up is a piece of cake.  A full blown sprint is easy provided it is not immediate.  I have had two Nuclear Stress Tests (latest one last January) and they were both “Normal” What I am wondering is do they aforementioned diagnosis explain my bizarre chest discomfort?

Hi there,

Check out the GERD Community Forum here and I am sure if you start talking to our Members there, they will agree with me that your symptoms might be GERD/reflux.

Just something to consider :)

Yes, the Cardiologist stated that it was due to high blood pressure.  I have since been taken off of the Calcium Channel Blocker I was on and now switched to a Beta Blocker (Coreg)  That coupled with the Lisinopril I have always been on will hopefully fit the bill.

Hi there,

Do you have high blood pressure and it that was caused the hypertrophy? Do you keep that under control with meds?

You said that a trigger is large meals:  Have you considered that you could have an Hiatal Hernia or that it could be reflux that is causing your chest discomfort?
