It ids possible your husband's stress was stopped due to vital signs that are monitored while taking the test. My test was interrupted after 7 minutes on the treadmill by the doctor that is on standby. There should be a doctor to supervise the test.
The procedure is to inject an agent that can be traced and seen with the flow of blood. The injected agent is viewed with a monitor and the image would indicate the degree of blood flow to heart cells...if there is any blockage, etc. perfusion would be limited. Your heart rate and blood pressure is kept within the expected range to limit any unnecessary risk.
PEICE OF CAKE I HAVE HAD IT DONE THE WAITING IS THE WORST PART. THEY WILL SPEED UP THE TREADMLL TO SEE HOW FAR YOU CAN WALK. THE PICTURES THEY TAKE TO SEE THE INSIDE OF YOUR HEART TAKE A LITTLE WHILE JUST RELAX AND TAKE A NAP. ITS NOT A 'STRESSFUL TEST' BEOVER BEFORE YOU KNOW IT.;
please donr stress the test , i had it done 3 weeks ago i stressed so much that i could not walk the treadmill my bp was 176/106. so i had to have the shot instead
when you get there they put a iv in to give you meds throught it the dye for the test, plus if you have to have the shot if you dont walk the treadmill they give in that to.
its more of a wait than anything, i got there they gave me my shot to race my heart and belive me it took my heart from 56 beats to 171 in mins, when i first got the shot i felt short of breath but it goes away fast thanthe racing heart comes. most people the heart goes back down pretty fast. but i was so stressed mine would not so they gave me another shot and it went right down.
than i went layed on a table for 15-20 mins they took pictures . got up and left to get something to eat,
came back laid on a table for another 10-15 mins taking pictures of heart than i was done.
its really a easy test, we make it harder than it should be i had 4 days to stress it and i did all for nothing. try and relax . i even took a ativan before i went that morning but i over power it with my stress.
let us know how it goes and when its all over you be so happy.
why are you haveing it are you having problems?
Thank you for your posts. I learned today that my stress test tomorrow would take 3-5 hours, why is this so long? My husband's stress test took only a few minutes. I called the hospital and they did not give me the complete info except that they said it's nuclear medicine. Isn't the 3D echo cardiogram enough to see my heart? I hate invasive tests. Thanks.
Your heart can be functioning normally and no problem, however, anxiety, stress, etc. can normally increase the heart rate due to psychophysiological events. You may want to work on your reaction to stress. Exercise will help.
i have done it almost every year twice and i can tell you that there is litle to bee concerned about test itselfe. Look at it this way that when you are finished you will bee really released.
