A treadmill test is about 75% accurate. If your EKG was abnormal before the test, it would have been more helpful to have a nuclear stress test. If your EKG changed during the stress test without pain, the fact that you had pain before may encourage you to be proactive  and ask for a nuclear stress test. Nuclear GXT pushes the accuracy into the 90th percentile.

Nuclear stress test: This test helps to determine which parts of the heart are healthy and function normally and which are not.  Images of the perfusion with a clear view injected substance to distinquish were the blood flows unimpeded and where there may be blockage with reduced blood supply. I

f you have chest pain that is related to vessel blockage, nitro medication would relieve the pain...that would provide some evidence of angina (heart related chest pain).  Also, when there is heart related angina, the pain chest pain usually happens with exertion and goes away with rest (stable angina)....

Hope this helps, and if you have any further questions or comments you are invited to respond.  Thanks for the question, take care,

Ken
