blood presure and heart affected by eating

I now know that I am not crazy. There are other people with this problem. Its actually very scary. You feel like you might be having a heart attack. I am 46 and the past year or so I have had weird problems with eating and then getting blood pressure to go up, it went up to 187 over 150 just recently, and wouldn't go down until I took two more blood presure pills. This was at night and the whole next day I was weak like my heart had over worked itself. (My Question is) Are the other people affected taking Prevacid, and Lisinopril. I am wondering if there is a corilation.I want to know that if this mix causes constipation and then heart problems. I believe it does. Some one that is qualified please answer this question.

Are you drinking enough fluids? The last part of the digestion extracts every possible molecule of water from food especially if dehydrated.

In addition to ed34's very true input, there can also be a question of food intolerances.  Some people have difficulty eating particular types of foods.  Food intolerances can trigger almost any symptom under the sun.  Specific food intolerances can be quite hard to identify, because of the wide variety of symptoms that can result from them and because of the ubiquity of some of the foods that cause the symptoms.  If you're interested in finding out more about this, you might want to read the book Wheat Belly, by Dr. William Davis.  He is a cardiologist who happens to be gluten-intolerant.  Gluten is the most common food intolerance (although there are many other foods besides gluten that can cause symptoms).  That book is the single best source that I can think of as a starting point, should you want to consider the possibility of food intolerance as a cause of your issues.  You might also want to keep a food diary, so you can see if there is any correlation between what you eat and when you have one of these attacks.

I have not heard of the combination of Prevacid and lisinipril causing problems, although anything is possible for a given individual.  With the cooperation of your doctor, it should be easy enough to rule that out by changing one of the two medications to another drug and preferably to a drug from an entirely different class of medications.

Good luck.

Ischemia can cause such problems. The digestive system can actually load the heart heavily because of the demand of blood supply. I was diagnosed with a gastric issue for over a year before I finally had a heart attack. Every time I ate anything, I would have incredible chest pains 10 minutes later and they would last for 20-30 minutes. I was terrified to eat after a few days. Now, since I have had more blockages formed, I find the opposite end of the digestive tract affects me. It isn't the eating, it's when I pass waste from the other end. I get chest pains, shortness of breath and chest pains until the I've finished. Then I feel pretty good for the rest of the day.
