bp 140\100

my bp is 140\100 when i got master health check up on 8-11-2009.  as per doc advice i am using met xl 50(metoprolof succinateextended release tablet) one tab a day.  but this is not controlling the bp and the values are constantly remained same, my weight is 98 kgs .  how to control the bp to normal

I agree with ed34. Some other things to also consider--
Cut down on caffeine, alcohol, and smoking (if any of these apply).
Eat less salty snack foods and junk foods and more fruits and fresh vegetables.
Start on a walking program after checking with your doctor to make sure this is OK; start slow and increase a little each day.

I assume that blood tests have been run to test kidney function etc. However, the first thing which comes to mind is your weight. 98kgs equates to 15 stone and for this to be
normal you would have to be around 6 foot 6 inches tall?
Being overweight can cause high blood pressure.
