Procedure took around 3.5 hours to complete. Cardiologist removed all of solid occlusion at top of LAD,
and tidied up the remainder of the vessel right to the bottom. Total was 5 long stents. As soon as the
main occlusion at the top was opened, my ECG immediately changed to normal. LAD is now fed by
left main stem AND bypass Lima vessel. So I basically have a built in bypass ready for the future.
After the procedure Im not sure what happened but I thought I was going to die. I suddenly felt unbearable pain
at the incision site and felt nauseous. My heart rate went to 202 and my bp dropped to 60. I very nearly blacked
out. I was given an injection and everything settled down. My cardiologist said my heart withstood that test with
no problems but I didn't catch what the problem was. I had an echo showing no regurgitation of any valves and
all dimensions etc are normal. Chest x-ray was perfect. Now Im at home recovering. The odd thing is Im still
experiencing throat discomfort when I walk, so Im wondering if its from the RCA? or maybe it takes time for the
current procedure to settle down?
