heart problem

I just received a copy of an ECG I had done yesterday. the final interpretation was "Abnormal ECG". There was normal sinus rhythm and Nonspecific  T wave abnormalities. The numbers given arevent rate 78 bpm, PR (140), QRSD (86), QT (372), QTc (424).P duration 102ms,RR interval 769ms,P R T axes 55 50 63.  What kind of situations are there where T wave abnormalities are significant? Thank you.

I have nonspecific t-wave abnormalities, and when I googled it, I didn't get the impression that it was a big deal.  If you are young and have never had any heart problems before, I think I would be more curious in your circumstances.  In my case, I'm older and have been through a lot of heart issues, and I already knew that my heart wasn't perfect.  So I think that a lot of how seriously you take this depends on what is going on with you and the reason for your having an EKG.  Normal sinus rhythm is a huge thing, for the good.  You definitely want to have normal sinus rhythm.

I think in general terms 'non specific' means there can be a number of causes for the abnormality and it would take tests to establish which one. I believe it can also refer to a result which is on the borderline of 'normal' and so it is a term that is used very loosely. The Twave is the relaxing of your ventricles after contraction. The ECG graph shows two measurements, time and peak. The horizontal being the time (duration) and the vertical being the peak. If the Twave is upside down for example, it can refer to a previous heart attack which has damaged heart muscle or blockages in the coronary arteries (usually the LAD). Another problem is that the 'normal' ranges are fine for around 95% of the population who fall into those limits. The other 5% are just a bit different and yet are healthy individuals. This is where a history of ECG printouts comes in handy, so you can compare them to see if there are any changes. Your Doctor may want further investigations or may just leave it because they are borderline readings.
