Hi,
I am new to MedHelp. My mother, 67 years old, recently got blacked out for few seconds. Doctor did Holter Monitor for a day. The report is as below.

General:
96005 QRS complexes
1 Ventricular beats ( < 1%)
434 Supraventricular beats(1 00 bpm), < 1% total
21557 Beats in bradycardia (<60 bpm), 22% total
1.36 Seconds Max R-R at 05:04:45 1 0-Aug

Ventriculars (V, F. E. I):
1 Isolated.
0 Couplets
0 Bigeminal cycles
0 Runs totaling 0 beats

Supraventriculars (5, J, A):
384 Isolated
25 Couplets
0 Bigeminal cycles
0 Runs totaling 0 beats

Interpretation:
24 hrs Holter monitoring revealed basic rhythm to be sinus with maximum heart rate of 143 bpm, minimum heart rate of 49 bpm, average being 67 bpm.1 episode of short Atrial Fibrillation noted. No sinus pause or higher grades of AV-block noted. Occasional supraventrilcular ectopic beats and couplets,1 ventricular ectopic beat were also noted during the period of monitoring. Bundle branch block pattern noted.

Is the condition serious? Will she need Pacemaker? I am very worried.

Thank you.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The holter report has shown atrial fibrillation (1 episode) and bundle branch block. There's no specific treatment for many cases of bundle branch block. Most people with bundle branch block are symptom-free and don't need treatment. But if there are symptoms of syncope or fainting then artificial pacemaker may be needed. Get your mother evaluated from her cardiologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
