Very well said, thanks for sharing!

I felt when reading your post I was re-living my past. I was the poster boy for bad heart health, as I'm sorry to mention, you seem to be. I smoked, was overweight, worked in a stressful profession, didn't exercise, drank to excess.
Think of it this way... Consider your present behavior like a big dinner with Prime rib, pasta, baked potatoes with lots of sour cream and butter, pass the whiskey, thankyouvery much. What's for dessert? Cigars after dinner, then the pie, pass the pinot noir. At some point, the waiter will present you with the bill.
That's what I felt like after my first heart attack, laying on a table in a cold room getting stents. I got the bill, and it was shocking. I was confused from the drugs and thought they were putting a tag on my toe, and was relieved that I was still walking on the sunny side of the earth. I changed behaviors, with pretty good results.
You threw all your blood tests results out of whack, so I'd get re-tested if I were you after a couple of days of sobriety, careful diet, then a fast for at least 14 hours prior to the test. You may be like me, and pushed mortality to the limit, but I really wish I'd got smarter at an earlier age.
Best wishes.
One comment you perhaps don't want to see....trust you don't party like that often.
I also must add that i had about 6 - 7 whiskys
I ate dinner at 10pm .. Drank whisky till 2am. Blood was drawn around 9am.. I also had a big gulp of iced tea about an hour before the test
The difference to your results by not fasting cannot be predicted. Different foods, and alcohol will raise the levels for sure. In fact, the results are meaningless as they stand and so a fasting new set of tests will be required. Didn't the form state "fasting" ? or didn't the Doctor explain this?
My trigs were over 2100 last year. I was supposes to take Tricor, but didn't. My healthy brother contacted me and told me I had to take this. It's in our genes he said. Doesn't matter how much we diet and exercise. I have been on the Tricor now for the last several months. I did fast this time for my lipid panel and I had been on the Tricor for about 3 weeks when they tested me last and my trigs had dropped considerably. I would have to ask what time did you have your blood drawn? Had it been about 12 hours after that dinner and drinks? Even if it hadn't I would ask to have the test again and if it is still high consider taking meds for that. Ally
Does anybody knows how much will the results be affected by having dinner and drinks the night before? By twice the regular number? Just a little? Can anybody give me some idea?
when ever i have the bloodwork done i always fast over night eat my reg dinner than nothing elsa after 7-8 thats just me. i would have the test again and this time fast. my tris were in the 500 a year ago, thats not good at all, you need to get them way down, there are great meds for it or you can start execrising and no fat diets are great lay off all white stuff, chips,graveys/breads etc.
first go back get blood work done again they like for your tri to be under 150. thats what my dr says.
Any other comment? Please help
Yes of course, you are supposed to fast before a cholesterol lipid check, to make it accurate. Usually around 12 hours before the test you can only have sips of water.
