Pulsating over chest/neck

Hello all,

I'm an active athletic young man with a brief question.
I'm also going to see the doc about this too just to rule it all out.
But I have for awhile experienced this pulsating sensation over my left chest where the artery is.
I would like to know what the cause is.
I had an ablation for svt which was successful but still experience this thing.
Prior to ablation, I had a stress test and it was a-ok.
So...I would like to know what any of you guys may know.
It is really just bothersome.
Also, my blood pressure is really good too.
I have a slow resting heart rate and eat very healthy food.
Also, the feeling comes on and off. Hopefully when I go see the dr, it can be there so he can feel it.

If you guys want a really good idea of where the sensation is, here is a link.

It is where the red dot is .
It's right above my left pec, right below the clavicle.

have a happy new year

I completely agree with kenkeith on that fact that as i stated before it is something that your doctor is the one whom all of us has learned thru personal experience is the one to follow up with the issues you are experiencing.  It is certainly not within anyones relm on any of the Medhelp sites to tell anyone that you have no medical problems that is a strict determination that comes from your physician.  The wonderful thing about Medhelp is that it is a complete community network meaning that support comes from all of the Medhelp sites and literally thousands of people from all over the world can share in your experiences as well as theirs. You do not want any limitations put on yourself when attempting to reach out to those that have experienced what you have.  People on each site have a wide variety of personal and professional experiences and that is why we have specialists in every field in medicine..ie: heart docs, orthos, g/p's, ENT docs, etc.  Medhelp also has a wonderful expert site as well as an "ask a doctor LIVE" site that members on it that also have years of experience working in the medical community as well as experiencing situations similar to yours.  As the community leader on another heart related site this is what the moderators as well as the manager of the Medhelp site encourages us all to do.....to refer to other sites as well to cover all of the bases for you.  There is no substitute and as i originally posted your doc is the one who is the navigator here .....when matters of the heart occur it is best to cover all of your bases and not rely on one persons opinion whether it be mine or anyone elses....it would be like physicians never giving a patient referrals to docs that may know more than their area of expertise......i wish you the best StrongRight with your appt. tomorrow.....

Ya. I think you're right too.
I kinda started to stop concentrating on it and voila it's mostly gone. Since I'm kinda lean I think that's why I was feeling it and also cause I was a little shaken up about svt and other things.
So I doing alot better about it now.
I'm going to see the dr again this Thursday.
Thanks for your concern mr. ken keith.

StrongRIGHT,

Your tests will have ruled out any physiological pulse.  The doppler stress test will have shown any abnormal blood flow through heart and vessels. Also, an EKG would have shown T wave abnormality.

The pulse you feel can be due to anxiety. Trust you doctor's have given the appropriate tests and have made the correct diagnosis, and someone else"s experience on another forum is not a substitue for your doctor's analysis as everyone has different physiologies, etc.  Your report on your health and lifestyle further indicates there is no medical problem as well.

After seeing your doctor, it would be interesting to hear the results. Take care.

...I had a much more detailed answer that was lost due to some software clinch. (:

HI i read your post too....i went thru the same thing that you did after my ablation a little over four years ago.   I had the ablation for SVT also as well as a couple of other things.  It took for me at least about 2 years before i stopped having that feeling in my chest and would watch my blouse rise and fall when it occured.  My heart doc says that it is the femoral artery just doing its job and flushing the blood thru our arteries with alot more strength since our hearts are being in a more normal pattern rather then the rhythm beating to the sound of a different drummer.  It definately made sense to me and like is said it took to about the 24 month mark for it to recede.  I would toss it past your heart doc just to be sure you are in the clear but for me i was told its a pretty common occurance.  I would also suggest that you drop in on the Medhelp Heart Rhythm site...alot of people in that community as well have had ablations and rhythm issues after the fact and i am sure you will find additional answers there as well.....good luck to you but if your doc says no worries...it would be no worries...............

Rec'd your E-mail with same question.  There are a number of different causes and it can be anxiety that triggers the episode, an over active thyroid, sometimes low blood  pressure (your bp is OK!), anemia, etc.

When you visit your doctor, the doctor can help diagnose and analyze with additional information such as health history, concomitant health issues, medication, etc.

Thanks for sharing, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond.  Take care and have a Happy New Year.

Also, if you feel over my chest, you can feel the heart pump and sometimes I can feel this if I'm standing up through my shirt...but If I pull my shirt away...I don't feel it?
Could I be overthinking this???
Here is an updated pic
