A stress test evaluates blood flow (perfusion) with exertion and again at rest through different parts of heart.  Ischemia means the perfusion of the blood is blocked or decreased usually due to plaque buildup within the vessel.  The cath will be fed through a vessel to the area of ischemia and assess the degree of blockage and exact location.  Usually, there is a stent implant to open the vessel to better blood flow.

Hope this helps, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond.  Thanks for sharing, take care,

Ken
