Afibs and Colonoscopy

The last time I had a colonoscopy I didn't have Afibs. I am worried now because I've read that the stuff you have to drink the day before can cause palpitations. However the GI is not concerned and neither was my cardiologist. Has anyone had afibs before or during a colonoscopy. The GI is putting me out entirely, rather than giving me conscious sedation.

I have to apologize for not responding to your answer. I haven't been on medhelp for about a year. Anyway, my colonoscopy went fine. No afibs at all. I was worried for no reason!

I get a lot of PVCs and had a colonoscopy while in the middle of a big flare up.  Not the same as afib so I don't know how much it applies.  I stayed hydrated throughout the "cleanse" and did fine.  I had less palps. Mother key is to keep up with water because the mag citrate you take will force a lot of water out your you-know-what.   Dehydration can cause palps, especially afib.

I started my cleanse the day before, eating nothing but liquids before I even started.  Mostly soups.  Then during the cleanse I was alone to at Italian water ice, lemon flavor.   No red flavored, the dye will mess this up.   I think I went through 6 of those.  Drank a lot of water.   I did fine, I had less palps actually.  They used  proof ol on me a.k.a."milk of amnesia".  I do t remember a darn thing and I felt great when I came out of it.  Went straight to a buffet diner!
