Anxiety and Irregular Heart Rhythm

I am a 21 year old female and for about 5 months now have been dealing with severe anxiety (or so I believe). I will get lightheaded and dizzy, hot, irregularly strong or fast heartbeat and feel like I am just going to pass out. I've seen multiple doctors, including a cardiologist, who tell me I'm fine and it's just normal anxiety. But every medicine I take doesn't help. I'd actually rather cure this without medicine but I just don't have the time with my 1 and a half year old son. I know a lot contributes to my anxiety, but I am just so concerned it could be something to do with my heart. Every time I just so much as feel an irregular beat I reach for my pulse to make sure it's still beating. This morning I was woken up in a panic around 5am and couldn't breathe. My heart was pounding and I became lightheaded. dizzy, and hot. I grabbed some water and walked around my house to calm down and my heart started racing probably like 130 to 140 and I did some breathing exercises to calm down. After about 5 or so minutes my heart rate was normal, but I was shaking and cold and felt sick to my stomach. I wasn't able to go back to sleep because when I laid down, I got hot and lightheaded again. If it weren't for the problems with my heart, I would have such severe anxiety. Please help! What on earth is going on??

Morning, this is to cams and others worried sbout skipped beatsn such. I'm a  38 yr old male, had it BAD for 3 days straight(10,000) a day. Now down to 3-15. Especially when I drive long distances or lift heavy. Anxiety brought mine on. New house, new job and new state all in 1 year. Also got a 3 & 5 yr old that drive me crazy , in the good way. I found that ACV ( apple cider vinegar)helps me out. Try a healthy shot with some water, its good for you. Hope this helps. Im sure its stomach related. Ulcer or sonethin.

Hi, check your thyroid. I had same problems like you, irregular heartbits, lots of anxiety and distress for years. Even a cardiologist prescribed me a pacemaker... imagine how afraid i was. Last year i went to see a diferent doctor. She told me that my symptoms corresponded to a thyroid problem. Deficiencies of minerals and vitamins that sick thyroid. Thyroid is a gland that move lots of mechanism in human bodies and is very important to be regulated in women. Now i know I'm hypothyroid and treatment is helping me a lot.
Hope you can have a good diagnostic and relief.

Hi everyone, I'm also going threw this.. It has been going on for 2 months right after I delivered my baby which it can be the cause of it but not sure. Everytime I move or get up and start walking my heart starts racing to like 140-160 and it goes back down when sitting to like 80. Weird right? Yeah, I see a cardiologist and a regular dr and they told me it was due to my body trying to adjust itself.. I been so sick and now I also get so much panic attacks because of it. I have all these other weird symptoms line hot rushes and cold sweaty hands and feet. But they tell me it's my anxiety. Who knows maybe it is... I been put on a ssri and on a beta-blocker. They told me I have something called 'POTS' it stands for postural orthastatic tachycardia syndrome. They say there's no cure for it but can be treated with the meds I'm taking.. It ***** big time because I can't do much during the day and having a 5 year old and a 2 month old makes me more depressed because I can't even seems to take care of them.. I been to the e.r a couple of times because of my panic attacks so they say.. And I'm going threw so so much stress an I wonder if that causes my heart rate to stay elevated. I am planning on seeing a therapist and staying on the meds and hope it resolves on it's own.. Best wishes for you! And you are not alone :)

It sounds like you both have some sort of tachycardia that needs to be addressed.  Tachycardia in a healthy heart is not a major concern for your overall long term heart healthy but you will want to get it treated and fixed or managed at some point so I suggest getting to a doctor to get the type you have diagnosed so you can take steps towards a solution.  Take care.
