Anxiety and Irregular Heart Rhythm

I am a 21 year old female and for about 5 months now have been dealing with severe anxiety (or so I believe). I will get lightheaded and dizzy, hot, irregularly strong or fast heartbeat and feel like I am just going to pass out. I've seen multiple doctors, including a cardiologist, who tell me I'm fine and it's just normal anxiety. But every medicine I take doesn't help. I'd actually rather cure this without medicine but I just don't have the time with my 1 and a half year old son. I know a lot contributes to my anxiety, but I am just so concerned it could be something to do with my heart. Every time I just so much as feel an irregular beat I reach for my pulse to make sure it's still beating. This morning I was woken up in a panic around 5am and couldn't breathe. My heart was pounding and I became lightheaded. dizzy, and hot. I grabbed some water and walked around my house to calm down and my heart started racing probably like 130 to 140 and I did some breathing exercises to calm down. After about 5 or so minutes my heart rate was normal, but I was shaking and cold and felt sick to my stomach. I wasn't able to go back to sleep because when I laid down, I got hot and lightheaded again. If it weren't for the problems with my heart, I would have such severe anxiety. Please help! What on earth is going on??

Omg that's crazy I have the same thing . I have even gone to the ER once cause of a minor anxiety attack. & I had chest pain and S.O.B but they just gave me pills for my chest pain which helps, but not with my breathing, I wish I could stop it but idk how, and I feel like I can't even do anything because then I'll start feeling like I'm running outta breath, I get so tired easily, then I notice I can be very calm and relaxed but I feel my heart beat beating fast and it worries me. I have trouble sleeping at night because it mainly happens at night and I get ssooo scared because I don't think this is normal for a 16 year old girl. If y'all know of anything please let me know wjat I can do!!

When I was 32I was under a lot of stress due to having a severely disabled daughter.. She consumed my attention 24/7...running and going dr here whatever the day called for.. Or the crazy. Nights that we were woke by heart monitors screaming... I started having problems during the day with dizziness. Sweats... Shortness of breath and sometimes my heart feel like it was coming out if my chest... For a yr I was told I having panic attacks when I would have to go to the hospital.funny thing is I would end up getting potassium in an IV and I was fine... .finally one night I laid in the bed and felt severe cramping in my back on my left side almost felt like my ribs in the back was broke..  No other symptoms..when I arrived at the hospital they did an EKG.... But my monitors read a heart beat between 12-18 BPM then it would shoot o the charts highs of 160-180.. I was immediately transported to a specialty hospital where I under went surgery and a pacemaker was placed..tachycardia and bradycardia was the cause.... As months proceeded... I started getting light headed, dizzy, sweats... Confusion... Passing out, I went to the dr for several months and was told it was my pacemaker needing adjusted, well u can only adjust a pacemaker so much either way.. Turn it up or turn it down... When they realized something else was going on.. A ultrasound was done of my heart to determine I had MVP Mitra valve prolapse.. In turn meant my heart floods with blood now and then and OUT goes the lights!! I pass out n hit the ground... My cardiologist says "it's not sever enough to have the corrective surgery but it bad what th hell Kind of answer is that? Over time I've learned to know what is going on in me.. So I can adjust and balance my life around this little set back and take time doing certain chores not to over exert myself to keep the MVP from disrupting my life any further...

I had very similar problems, but not quite as bad as yours. I was getting heart beats up to around 120, sweating & dizziness & thought i had a heart problem. It turned out i was type 2 diabetic. Once i changed my diet & a few meds each day i have been fine ever since. Might be worth asking the Doc for a simple 2 part blood test to find out.

Hi, I'm really glad I found this post. I have very similar problems and have a 2 year old daughter. I had an episode of afib, 3 yers ago. They put me on beta blockers and anti anxiety meds. I have had bad anxiety for over 7 years now. I'm 25, and have been on medicine for it on and off. I'm currently off the anxiety meds but still taking the beta blocker. I found out I'm pregnant with our second, and it seems I have been getting more and more days where my heart starts fluttering or feels like its flip flopping in my chest. I tend to have irregular breathing because of how anxious I always am. I alway worry that there is something wron with my heart. I have had ultrasounds and ekgs done and they said it is fine structurally.  I'm really scared that it will cause problems when I'm in labor. Anxiety is a very hard thing to deal with. I've also been to therapy but mostly it hasn't helped much because I know I worry, the problem is turning the worry off once I get in tht mode. Meds has been the only thing that sort I helps but I don't want to be on any while being pregnant. I wish you the best of luck and it helps to talk about it. My greatest advice is finding someone who will listen to all your worrys. And getting it checked out by a doctor could help relieve some anxiety too.

Hi there,
I just started taking Magnesium Citrate, L-Taurine, coQ-10, and Omega 3.
Do you know how long it takes to see the effects of magnesium? and how much to take.  Also, have you used the other 3 that I mentioned?  I am going to see a Naturopath to find out dosage and times to take etc... I have read that it can take a few weeks to feel any improvement.  Any info you can give me would be much appreciated.  Thanks!
