Short story long: My first cardiologist had me on 80mg Sotalol 2x per day plus 81mg Baby aspirin one per day plus Vytorin 10/20 once per day at night . With this cardiologist  I had 1 AF episode per year the last 5 years and my resting pulse rate was 59.I switched to cardiologist # 2. Now, he eliminated sotalol, increased my aspirin intake to 325 mg per day in a.m. and I've had 3 AF episodes in the last  three months since switching cardiologists and my resting pulse rate is 72-84. What should I do? A heart arrythmiologist gave me flecadine to combat my AF episodes. I'm not a happy camper but am at their mercy. Can you please give me some suggestions for what I should do? Should I go back to my first cardiologist? I feel like he is more correct than my new one. Now I am living in fear each month, waiting for my next AF episode to happen. Somebody HEP me!

Given the good results with Cardiologist #1 I wonder why you changed.

I do like the idea of trying to get medication levels down.  I believe less is more, or better, but ... if less doesn't work out, I'd vote for going back to what works.

As Brook says, discuss with you current doctor.  If you don't like the answer I'd suggest going back to the former doctor if possible.

Hello...

Sorry to hear how PO'd you are...I can relate, very well, to the way you feel. I guess the big question is...If the Sotolol was working to keep you out of Afib, why did your new Dr suggest that you discontinue it?

At this point in time, I think that speaking to your cardiologist about resuming your previous Sotolol regime is probably the best option. I can not find any reason that he/she would not concur with this suggestion as a decent option for treatment.

There is nobody that can advocate for you better than yourself! :) I hope that you find a quick resolution to this...
