Standard cod liver oil is *extremely* high in vitamin A, and there is some chance that taking excess vitamin A--over a teaspoon per day--will increase the effectiveness of coumadin, putting patients at even greater risk for bleeding. Same goes for the Omega-3s in cod liver oil. You can read about it here (or wikipedia, etc):

I use fish oil capsules and have no problem. Not sure I have any benefit either.
My cardiologist and my primary care doctor both know I take the fish oil and have never said I should not. I take 5 mg of Warfarin a day because of AFib.
