Svt at night only
Why would episodes of SVT(avg 140bpm) affect me only at night? I only have episodes right after drifting off to sleep, never while awake.

Its kind of like asking why is the sky blue or what are the winning lottery numbers before the game....personally i don;t think there's any rhyme or reason on why SVT happens while we are asleep...been there done that was converted a couple of times. My heart doc says we could be reacting to a dream because our minds and heart react appropriately during nighmares...or it could be when you move into REM and our bodies react differently kind of like when you jolt awake like you have fallen off of that log in your sleep...at the end of the day my personal feeling is that w. SVT its a conduction issue of the electrical of the heart and cause and effect...i would talk to the doc and see if they want to put you on some sort of beta blocker or look at a possible ablation to cure it....i had mine done and no more SVT......
Thanks for your reply cindy. I've thought about having the EP study done, but I have it so infrequently. The cardiologist said it was nothing dangerous, just a nusance. I happened to me every night about 4 years ago for a couple of months then didn't start happening again till a few months ago and after that few months it's not happening now. If it hits me then hangs around, I might have to do the ablation b/c of the interruption in sleep it causes. It's frightening as well, even when you know what's going on.
