Heart monitor caught an episode of unsustained ventricular tachycardia, im 23.

So 3 days ago I was sitting in bed when I felt my heart drop for about 4-5 seconds. I freaked out and called the monitor company to see if they caught something and it turns out they did. They adviced me to stay calm that they were advising my doctor but i went to the ER instead. In the ER they told the doctor it was V tach that lasted a few seconds. I was admitted and then transferred to a bigger hospital, where they did an EP study, which came back negative, and a cardiaf MRI, which also came back negative. How could this be? Im terrified out of my mind right now. I keep thinkink im going to drop dead. Im extremely paranoid and extra worried. I mean, Im only 23 after all and all my echos, stress tests, x rays, echo stress tests and blood tests have all been fine. Even the EP study and the MRI were fine. Any thoughts?

It's hard to say for sure what caused it.  Possibly it wasn't true reentry VTach but a run of pvcs in a row which is less dangerous.  Either way a very short run of them is not a huge concern for doctors in an otherwise healthy heart which your heart was evaluated to be.  Your heart is able to revert back to normal after a few seconds is what is important.  if you feel it happen again try coughing to see if it breaks it up for you.  The worst thing you can do is obsess and worry about it.  The stress itself is going to cause you symptoms.  There doesn't appear to be any physical cause so that really does mean that your heart may just be hyper sensitive.  Without actual damage to the heart odds of you dropping dead are extremely slim.  So please do try to make peace with your heart and its jumpy nature.  Avoid caffeine, sugar and carbohydrates.  Stay as well hydrated as you can and avoid things that cause upset stomach and acid reflux and of course work on stress and anxiety.  If you maintain a heart healthy lifestyle you will live a long life despite some jumpiness.  Take care and hang in there.
