I recommend seeing a cardiologist if possible. I would guess that most primary care doctors would want to refer you...time will tell.
I've had two primary care doctors in the last 20 years, one for 19 years and one I just started with. The first referred me to a cardiologist about 10 years ago, and the new pcp seems happy I "have" a cardiologist. The new pcp did give me an EKG as part of my physical, but knowing I am in the care of a cardiologist really had nothing to add from the EKG result.
In your case I think it will be necessary for the doctor to catch an event to be able to analyze it. A simple one-shot EKG rarely catches an event...for me and AFig all the time, it shows up on the EKG.
thank you both for talking to me. pcp meand primary care physican and i am changing doctors because my doctor i have now is no help. as for the pain in my chest i have it alot. it happens anytime of the day. as for the skipped beats that too happens at any time. it really scares me. i am going to a new doctor on friday . so i will let you both know what he has to say again thank you both.

Mine hurt as well, My Dr. say's it's that I am nervous. Do you feel them more at night? The pain in your chest that is?
I believe irregular ventricle heart beats, such as PVC, can be painful but benign. In general atrial problems like fibrillation, flutter and Premature Contractions (PAC) are usually not painful. The ventricle muscle is much stronger, and that may be the reason.
Any time your condition changes is a good time to see the doctor again. I'm not sure what a "pcp" is, but I hope you continue with a cardiologist concerning yoiur skipped beats. I think it is common not to treat some rhythm irregularities, but if they hurt, that seems to be a good reason to ask for help with medications.
