Heart Palpatations

Hi Doctor,
I am feeling like my heart is skipping a beat.  This doesn't happen all the time, just sporadically I would say.  I have had an echo in the past year and that was normal.  I was also seen 2.5 weeks ago at the dr and my EKG was normal.  I do not  have any dizziness, shortness of breath or anything like that.  At the time I went to see the dr, I had just stopped taking zoloft becuase I thought that to be the cause of these.  I am also taking the birth control camila.  My dad passed away in 1988 of IHSS. I have been checked throughout my life and have never had anything come of the testing.  I am recently 5 months post partum and have the normal stressors of a new baby and sleep depervation? Should I be worried?

It appears that a lot of your heart palpitations are due to anxiety, anxiety is the culprit for a lot of folks that experience them, myself included. Lack of sleep can cause them as well. The fact that your test came back normal is a good sign.

I would try not to worry, this can make them worse, try to relax, easier said then done, I know, and if they STILL bother you, then ask your doctor's opinion.
